Kristine Hildebrandt

Kristine Hildebrandt is a Professor of English Language and Literature at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and co-director of its Interdisciplinary Research and Informatics Scholarship Center. Her work documents Tibeto-Burman languages of Nepal's Manang District, including NSF-funded projects archiving under-documented Himalayan languages and a corpus of 2015 earthquake survivor narratives. She is also a project director of the DLI Community of Science, an NSF-funded initiative that brings linguists, Indigenous knowledge-holders, and researchers from fields such as computing and the environmental sciences together to advance cross-disciplinary language documentation and treat endangered languages as scientific data worth preserving.
