Misrepresentation

When a system presents a language, culture, or person inaccurately, whether through wrong output, stereotyped images, or words a real person never said. AI makes this easy and fluent: a model can produce confident but incorrect language (see Ojibwe Chat), a flawed resource can stand in for the real thing (see Scots Wikipedia), or a generated image can flatten a community into a cliché (see Image Generation for Language Learning). The harm is sharpest where few people can catch the error and it circulates as if authoritative, which makes it a close cousin of misinformation. A particularly stark form is digital redface, where technology is used to imitate an Indigenous language or identity poorly.
